pegkerr: (The beauty of it smote his heart)
I think that after last week I was just so exhausted that I just needed to loll around for a while. And that's what I've done this week. I wondered for several days what should be the theme of this card. I was reading Jane Austen fanfiction again, and working in the garden again, and I've done cards for both of those.

This week reminded me of those cartoons that the cartoonist who did "Stone Soup" did every August: "Ya gotta love August." Just reveling in summer. So that's the theme this week. I made basil lemonade, and read Jane Austen fan fiction on the couch. I walked around Lake Harriet to the Harriet Brasserie with Eric where I feasted on duck tacos. I lazed on the porch drinking sangria, watching the birds. Soaking up the sunshine. Enjoying summer to the hilt.

I've also been listening obsessively to the soundtrack for "In the Heights" and the feeling I have about this card feels like the feeling when Lin-Manual Miranda comes in so sweetly during the last song ("Finale"):

Piragua!
Piragua!
New block of ice, piragua!
So sweet and nice, piragua!
Piragua!
Piragua!

That's what this week has been like. It's been a nice one.

The border on this card is from my own petunia boxes.

I could have jammed a lot more onto this card (the tomato plants. The Harriet Brasserie logo. Sangria. Some of the books I've read), but I feel like I've been overcrowding the cards lately and so went with just three elements. I rather like this one.

This card marks the halfway point through the year.
