Here's the Ice Palaces book I'm looking for:

Anderes, Fred and Agranoff, Ann, Ice Palaces, Abbeville Press (1983). There were several different editions. Here's the cover:

Anyone (particularly in Mpls/St. Paul) know where I can get a copy?

Peg

Several reasonably-priced copies turned up on a search for "ice palaces" on www.abebooks.com. The only one actually near you is in Stillwater, though. I've had great luck ordering books through ABE in the past, and highly recommend them if you do the online credit thing.

I grew up in North Dakota and went to school in Minnesota (Carleton), and can't express how delighted I am to read about another book set in the area (Tam Lin is why I went to Carleton, and War for the Oaks will always always be one of my favorite books). It's making me miss Minneapolis an awful lot, and I'm enjoying your entries so much--thanks for sharing!

Hi Peg -- there are numerous copies available via alibris.com -- see here -- http://www.alibris.com/search/search.cfm?qwork=3087740&ptit=Ice%20Palaces&pauth=Anderes%2C%20Fred%2C%20and%20Agranoff%2C%20Ann&pisbn=&pbest=15%2E95&pbestnew=1000000%2E00&pqty=9&pqtynew=0&matches=9&qsort=r

I'm not sure if any of the bookstores are in the Twin Cities but we all love online ordering anyway, yes we do :)

I would check http://www.bookfinder.com which does an aggregate search on alibris, ABE, and various other useful outlets.

Thanks, John

I placed the order this morning on that site. $21.95 with shipping--very reasonable.

I slept ten hours last night. Man, I needed it. Great meeting, though.

Cheers,
Peg

I know you've already placed the order and have it coming - you might though go look at the History center in St. Paul. I know it stocks old books (especially those it prints), but it also has a great selection of old papers and useful items like that. Linda Lounsbury worked there for a bit - if you can pry her away from getting her floors done (she's in the process of moving into the house her mother-in-law vacated and thus getting her house redone so they can sell it.) I know Linda could give you chapter and verse on details about Minnesotat/Minneaplis, ....
