Not much accomplished today, alas. I didn't do research reading at lunch, and tonight after putting the girls to bed (we're still reading from Goose Chase), I reconciled my checkbook. It was irritating to snitch from my writing time to do that, but it had to be done. And at least I didn't squander the time doing LiveJournal. As I'm doing now.

But I did squeeze in some more research reading after finishing with the checkbook, more of Icy Pleasures. About 20 minutes worth. Still haven't gotten to anything directly on point: I'm reading about the history of ice skating, tobogganing, and sleighing in 19th century Minnesota.

Notes: Life stress is up, and partly as a result of that, I'm feeling frustrated, guilty at how little I'm accomplishing with the writing, and somewhat impatient. Research reading takes time, even if you read as quickly as I do. And since I have so little time to call my own, I feel impatient about all these blind alleys.

I probably should start doing my light box again pretty soon, after daylight savings time ends. Only when will I have time?

I presume the light box doesn't take "time" per se, since you do it while doing other things in the morning.

*hugs and sympathy*

I was also thinking about my lightbox--I have to get it out this weekend. I find that it works out for me to sit in front of it while I am waking up enough to cram in my workout before I go to work.

Maybe that would work for you?

We recently put a full-spectrum compact fluorescent bulb in the bathroom fixture. It cost just under $5 at Target and fits in a standard light socket, and the result is that the entire room feels like it's bathed in sunlight. Now, every morning, I get my daylight fix while I'm showering.

The only catch is that with two small kids at home, a morning shower isn't really guaranteed...
