Where the hell did my weekend go?

I didn't write. I didn't research-read. I didn't work out. My weight is up. My house is a mess. I still can't decide whether I'm going to send out holiday cards this year.

Well, yes, Thanksgiving celebration/schmoozing and some shopping Friday (not enough) and Advent Festival at church tonight, very nice. But this other stuff . . .

I am v. crabby about this. Short on sleep, too. Light box is mandatory tomorrow.

I still can't decide whether I'm going to send out holiday cards this year.

I must have missed your self-debate over this. What are the considerations? Time and/or financial? Perhaps just severely pare your list down to one box's worth? Use Christmas postcards? Or send out a bunch of e-cards? (Time is still a factor, but at least they're free and you can still include a little note.) Have your daughters help address envelopes?

I hear you on a number of the other complaints, though.

Is the theory behind the light-box that people need the high intensity, or extra light hours, or a more sun-like spectrum, or what? Or is it all empirical, "seems to help some people"? (Came up in a thread on [livejournal.com profile] james_nicoll journal about domed colonies on mars!)

Maybe I'm perverse, but one of the things I miss most being unemployed is weekends...

I'm vague on details; I can't remember what there was in the literature when I bought the box, whether there was much in the way of studies, etc. Nor do I remember whether it was me or my psychiatrist who thought it was a good idea to make the purchase. But I do think it does help.

I understand the frustration of feeling like you accomplished nothing over the weekend. But if you ask me, I say you did you pennance by wearing the hairshirt of dealing with the dishes from Kohl's. Congratulations on finally having a complete and unbroken set. =)

Well, since I have an eight-year old and an eleven-year old in the house, we'll have to see how long they STAY unbroken!

Broken Dishes

For some reason your post reminded me of the time a friend that I didn't really like all that much decided that I didn't have enough dishes and gave me a set of butt ugly plates she found in a thrift store. I really didn't want to use 'em so whenever I was pissed off by something I'd grab a plate, wrap it up in plastic and SMASH it!
