There was a thing a few years ago, when Zorinth was about six, about saying that Po in the tellytubbies was gay. I asked Zorinth what he thought about this, and he looked at me in total disbelief:
"Jo! He's a stuffed toy. Toys don't do sex!"
I replied that some people said he was gay because he had a handbag.
"Jo! S has a handbag, and he's not gay. And C doesn't have a handbag and he is gay. And when are we going to see S anyway?"
The really sick thing about all this is the idea that handholding among children and child-analogue things like sponges and stuffed toys, is sexualized.
