That article was in The Oregonian last week. I really get the sense that some of the journalism folk are miffed that LJ provides us a forum to discuss the news and form our own opinions rather than just reading their articles and believing what we're told by the mainstream media.
I'm far more engaged in political and social discussion than I was pre-LJ and have been exposed to a much wider range of opinions.
Yeah--that was the front page article on the local paper a couple of weeks ago, your version is a reprint. Since Livejournal was bought and thus a local company is moving jobs out of town, it was front-page-worthy.

Howdy--I saw yours after mine and friended you for a test run to see if we have enough in common for the long term. I like knowing people who are different from me, it opens my mind.

This is a gamut?? ;) I don't know offhand of practicing anorexics, but despite the relative smallness of my flist I can name several people who overlap the other three categories....
"Some academics wonder whether heavily social sites such as LiveJournal are fueling an erosion of young adults' engagement in public affairs and use of mainstream news coverage to the detriment of democracy."
I think the falling sky gave that writer a concussion.
