I bought one of those make up kits that was too cheap to resist: over sixty colors of eye makeup, six rouges, 18 lip colors, six nail polish, etc., etc., for $15.00. I never buy nail polish, but hey, there it was, so I put on nail polish for the first time in fifteen years last night. And I didn't do a bad job for a rank amateur.

When I got to work this morning, I realize that the outfit I put on clashes with it horribly. It figures.

Ay, there's the rub :) Nail polish comes in quite an overwhelming variety of irresistible colors, but there always is that annoying factor of matching. Yay for scoring on cheap makeup though... I need to find one of those things.

When R feels down (hey, wanna have coffee and talk about Daughters sometime?), she likes to go makeup shopping at the pricey counters at Marshall Field. They'll let you try all kinds of fun stuff, and if you say something like, "This is nice, but I really want to try another brand before I decide," they're fairly cool about letting you get away without buying. (In fact, sometimes they'll give you a sample.) But I think those big kits like you bought are a great alternative. Why, I've even bought one myself a time or two, and I hardly ever wear makeup.

Petites nail polish, which you can buy in places like Rite-Aid and Save-on, is a dollar a bottle and comes in really nice colors, including blue, silver, etc. I love it. Of course, I ignore clashes.

This is why I only ever get my nails done in wussy colours like pale pink. Of course, most of the time they're unpainted... Real Life is so unconducive to manicure maintenance, and no-polish looks better than chipped-polish...

...(the one that moved to Vegas) got me into buffing my fingernails (hey, it's better than collecting action figures). I even tried clear nail polish once, just out of curiosity. Made 'em feel oddly tight.

This is exactly why I hardly ever wear nail polish (or any makeup, really)--it makes me feel like my nails can't breathe.
