I'm thinking I might get one. I've been on LJ for four years, with the paid account with full complement of user pics, and I don't see my interest diminishing soon (heck, I've been keeping my paper journal for thirty years!)

I have been so glad over the years that I got mine. It's way cool to always have first access to the new features.

I might too. I'd really like one, and it'd be a good way of supporting LJ.

*wavers*

Hmmm, highly tempting.... I might wait though. Thanks for posting about it! I still have a few days to change my mind :P

Hmm. Plus there's the supporting LJ and open source aspect of it.

So a permanent account is good for 4 years?

I'm glad I just became a paid user (only for 6 months but it's gonna expire 3 days after my birthday so I'm sure I'll put a year paid account on my b-day list).

That is tempting.

No, it's permanent. Pay the one fee ($150) and never pay again. I meant I'm tempted because I've been on LJ for four years, and I expect I will be for many more. Instead of paying $35 for year into perpetuity, I'll pay $150 once and be done with it.

The permanent account also protects against future price increases in the cost of a paid account, which is another point in its favor. If I'm reading their pricing info correctly, paid accounts currently cost $25/year rather than $35.

I'm tempted, too, much though my checking account and accounts receivable balances are telling me otherwise.

Yes. (For me, paid accounts are $35 a year, since I also get the 50 user pics).
