A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. LeGuin.

The Tombs of Atuan by Ursula K. LeGuin.

The Farthest Shore by Ursula K. LeGuin. These were all first time reads. I know, I know, this is a tad embarrassing. But I've read 'em now. As I said, I found myself unreasonably irked that she covered themes in them, esp. the third, that I want to cover in the ice palace book. Yes, this a totally irrational reaction. Ursula K. LeGuin does not have dibs on the them of escape-from-death, no matter how well she does it.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. This was a book that [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B gave to me, and it was a very simple quick read, but had several key ideas that I like quite well and have already started applying to my life and relationships. Rob had someone independently recommend it to him this month, too, so he is reading it now.

Am still working my way through A.S. Byatt's Possession, so that will start the list next month. This is very short, but that's because, you know, I've been cleaning.

Dear Peg,

Please do not be concerned that Ms. LeGuin has traversed some of the territory that you have (or will) -- these are themes that we would love to read about again, to see from your perspective. You'll do it well too, I have no doubt.

I know someone who became deeply involved with Ruiz's teachings and groups and is now a rather weird and culted-out person. It is hardly possible to talk to her anymore without hearing an earful of how she is the descendant of Incas now. I would not recommend getting too far into it.

If you'd like to read more Earthsea, other Le Guin, or talk about her stuff, let me know.

I like to call "The Four Agreements" "The Four Habits of Highly Effective Toltecs."
