I drove Rob to the airport at an ungodly hour this morning. (He left all the dishes unwashed, too, damn him.)

He has the laptop along, and so I have given him permission to make guest posts this week in my journal to give us reports from The Witching Hour.

I wish I could have gone. I REALLY wish I could have gone. I said as much this morning, and he said, "You could have." And yeah, I could have--if I had been willing to put this family even more in hock than it is now, and after our trip to California this summer, I just wasn't willing to do that. And what the hell would we have done with the kids? So I get to be all noble and virtuous and reliable parental instead--and miss all the fun.

Damn. This morning in particular, I really really hate being noble. (Particularly when I have to get up at 5:30 a.m. to do it. AND he leaves me with the damn dishes.)

5:30 a.m. and the spousal unit is gone and the dishes he was going to do aren't done?

Yah. I can name that tune.

I'm not going either, and it's killing me :( Especially because I just found out I could have stayed in a friend's house free, and the bus would have cost only 18$ through school.

Woe to us, who cannot go.

Heck, I live about 15 miles from Salem and I'm not going. There are one or two "public" events I'm hoping to see people at, but the more LJ-folks I've wanted to meet that I hear are attending, the more I'm kicking myself...

I'm commisserating with you, Peg. I should have been on the same flight as Rob, but family obligations are keeping me from making the trip. Nimbus was such a heady experience, that it's doubly difficult to know just what we're missing. Have a great week anyhow, and stay dry if you can! Sheesh, what a mess the rain caused in NW Wisconsin.

I'm off to do dishes right now before I leave. Thank you for reminding me. We will miss you.

I wanted to go too... *sigh*

We can be regretful together! We can make an online convention amongst all of us who wanted to go, and we can make everyone who did go jealous of us!

...*sigh* Maybe there will be another one?

Yes! In less than a year! HPEF is holding Lumos in Las Vegas next summer. Go here: http://www.lumos2006.org/.

We'll miss you in Salem, Peg!

(FWIW my daughter is DYING that she's staying here because she would ADORE seeing Salem, even apart from the symposium!)

Is there a LiveJournal community for The Witching Hour, so I can monitor the fun while the con is going on? I was poking around and not able to find one; I've found several for some of the subgroups, but not one for the con as a whole.

Or a community for Lumos?
