There are a bunch of thoughtful posts on my friends list that cry out for comments--but I'm not able to oblige you folks. My mind has deteriorated to mush. Spent thirteen hours at work today, bracketing depositions. That means reading pages of blinding lists of numbers formatted like this:

0028:14-0029:3

and drawing lines with a ruler and flare pen to mark, say page 28, line 14 till page 29, line 3.

You need the intelligence of a five year old to do this. This, ladies and gentlemen, is why I went to graduate school for four years after college--so that I could work thirteen hours drawing lines on paper. A bunch of margaritas would probably have helped,* but they don't allow them at the office.

My back is killing me from hunching over those transcripts all day. Am going to demand backrub from Rob.

It's probably a little too late to make a margarita. *Sigh*

* meaning that the margaritas would have helped me. They definitely would not have helped the bracketing.

Oh, yeah. My favorite part of copyediting is NOT cross referencing bibliography and citations... yet guess which knotty little project has been assigned to me because I'm "good at it"? *flails*

It is never too late for margaritas, but there comes a time at night when Baily's just tastes a bit better...

I edited my entry to reflect that while the margaritas would have helped me, they probably would not have helped the bracketing.

Thirteen hours? Bless you. I never had to do anything like that for more than 12 hours at a time. One reason I went to law school was so that I wouldn't have to spend millions of hours redacting documents. Instead I got to spend millions of hours reading contracts. Unfortunately, this doesn't leave me with time to write thoughtful posts, or drink margaritas.
