of course, go ahead and friend me. I've already friended you back. Delighted to see you pop up on LiveJournal. I hope you have as much fun with it as I have.
As for "friending" etiquette: my approach is a little more complicated. I basically "friend" everyone who interests me, and everyone who has friended me, so my list is huge BUT I have sorted my friends into various groups, so I don't view everyone at once. I have, in fact, several different friends pages. One I call "the kitchen sink" which is EVERYONE. One is for people who are interested in Harry Potter, one is for Lord of the Rings fans, one for people interested in writing, one for people locally here in the Twin cities. One is my "quick page" (just the people I'm sure I want to read every day). These groups can overlap, of course, and you can make them private or public as you choose. This makes it easy for me to scan just the particularly subset of people I'm looking for. I think that if you have a paid account, you can sort up to thirty different friends groups. Some people ask before friending, others don't. I've gone either way.
At any rate, I'm so happy to see you here on LiveJournal. I hope you have as much fun with it as I have!
