I finally got to sleep at, I think, about 3 a.m. last night, and my gall bladder seems to have settled down for the time being. I didn't go to work today. I have gotten nothing accomplished today. It is a good thing that nothing has been asked of me.

I have been doing some research today. Apparently, losing weight can put you at higher risk of gall bladder problems. Who knew? I did know that I had gall stones already, since I've had some episodes before, but not since last June.

I'm hoping my gall bladder will settle down and I won't hear from it for quite awhile.

It has been a very long time since I have taken a day and done nothing with it. Well, I tried to start a holiday letter, but I got nowhere. Brain did not seem to be engaging.

Heal up quickly!

What follows is the inevitable advice you didn't ask for. Sorry. Can't help myself.

As part of your research did you run into the regimens for curing gall stones on your own? The ones involving lemon juice and olive oil?

The thing I took out of those was that they seemed to start with drinking a lot of apple juice and, hey, I like apple juice. So I suggest adding as much apple juice as you can stand to your intake.

And, really, I just hope you're feeling strong very soon.

I learned that when I had my gall bladder removed in early 1997-- right after I'd lost 30 pounds using phen/fen.

Oh, and if your skin starts itching on the inside, or you think you look a little yellowish around the eyes, call your doctor. You may have stones stuck in the common bile duct.

Happened to me to, although (IIRC) I was still loosing weight at the time - my doctors said that, in all probability, they'd keep recurring. I could do all the good things to keep them under control - they could even do the ultrasound smashing - but they'd probably come back.

I took them at their words and had my gall bladder removed. And then I found out something that they hadn't told me - the ultrasound that was used to diagnose me? Had been real-size, not magnified. I had three stones with a diameter greater than 1cm each.

I've been doing just fine without my gall bladder.

Hey, I'm coming in late on this one. How are you? Are you feeling any better yet? Seems like so many people I know are having gall problems.

I was fragile on Monday, but I seem to be back to normal now. Let's keep our fingers crossed that my gall bladder is over its hissy fit and will remain quiescent for awhile.
