Five years ago, timprov and I were visiting home (we still lived in California then). We were having coffee at Perkins when they lowered the flag to half-mast, and we talked to the people at the neighboring tables about it. And as upset as we were, we were so relieved to be upset here and not upset by ourselves in California and stuck trying to explain to people why.
