I got to work, sat down at my desk--and burst into tears. I was just so exhausted after the day/night we'd had, and, I belatedly realized, still a little overwrought by the scare Delia's condition gave us. So, I sent an apologetic email to my attorneys, went home, and went to bed. Up again and groggy after a few hours sleep. It'll be a quiet afternoon at home.

(((hugs)))
It's very scary when your kid gets hospitalized, and you have to hold it all together. You deserve the rest.

Nobody can physically cope with being up all night with a very sick child and then do a decent days work. I know you feel as if you had no choice, but many people would have not left work the way you did. You did the right thing for you.

I'm surprised you went into work at all. You push yourself too much sometimes. Enjoy a little quiet. Have a cup of tea.

I went through a few kid/hospital episodes before becoming a retired parent. You _need_ quiet. Consider taking tomorrow off, as well.

Spend some time sitting outside. Soak up some sun. It is a BEAUTIFUL day.

My first reaction upon reading this post was, I CANNOT believe you went into work today--but of course I can believe it, having done more than my share of not staying home for anything short of lying flat on my back unable to do more than crawl to the bathroom and back again. But sometimes I've also realized that attempting to work was a mistake, punched out early, and gone the hell back home. I am glad you realized you needed to follow the latter course of action. Be good to yourself. You've had a hellish night. Do something nurturing and restorative. I recommend sitting somewhere with a nice view and just staring into space.

By the way, I have two more of those Tillie's Bean coupons (for BOGO on beverages). Originally I planned to give them to you on Friday, but if Delia's test needs to be postponed so she can test when she's at full strength, then I can mail them to you. And I'm glad you enjoyed the little package; please tell your family not to kill me for sending you that magnet. ;-)

I can't believe you went into work!!

I am so glad she's ok. Princess was in the hospital for 5 days with a fever that wouldn't go down. It was hell. I was so scared. I'm so glad her fever is down!

Joining you in your appreciation of the miracles of modern medicine, and so glad you were able to spend this day at home.

Here (NM) the medicine of choice for children with high fevers is always ibuprofen. I am very curious about why the difference.

I hope you and Delia both get the benefit of a quiet afternoon. It's been a traumatic time for both of you. For what it's worth, I would've gone to work, too, and felt better for having done so. Having gone in, you know you tried your very best but in the end, the carer was the one who most needed care. So take care of yourself.

Just caught up on my LJ after 24 hours. Holy hell, what a day and night you've had. I really do hope the worst is over. Thank God for modern medicine. Take good care of yourself, too, ok? *soothing hugs for everyone*
