Those close-up shots are especially fantastic. I looked like I was about 9 when I was 12 (a very dorky 9, too, I might add), but Delia actually looks like a proper young lady!
Btw, I know I'm being a bit slow here but it occurred to me the other day when I saw the Portus pics - when did she start wearing glasses?
And I hope the fact that Fiona served dinner (on other post) helps reassure you that, yes, you are raising them right. I'm always in awe when I see the lovely tables they set. Thanks for sharing!
She first got glasses about a year and a half ago--and then lost them immediately. She had only been wearing them occasionally so we weren't exactly rushing to replace them. About three months ago, she started complaining that she wanted them replaced, and we finally had her examined again and replaced the glasses. We learned in the exam that her eyesight had quite suddenly gotten worse--it was twice as bad as a year ago, so she's wearing them probably about 75% of the time now.
She may get contacts eventually, but she doesn't feel ready for them now.
I keep meaning to say this but I wanted to tell you how much I really enjoyed spending time with you and your family, and that I absolutely adore the girls. They were quite possibly the coolest aspect of the entire con, because I've been watching them grow up for years and it was so amazing to finally meet them. :D
And these pictures are fantastic. I love Delia's glasses.
I agree; having you meet them was absolutely wonderful! I'm so glad you enjoyed your time with them; they certainly enjoyed their time with you. (And I'm biased, I'm sure, but I agree that they're adorable!)
She looks adorable! The glasses really suit her. The thing I hated the most about picking glasses during my early teens was the fact that I couldn't see what I looked like when I put them on. I had to trust my parents and my doctor.
Oh wow -- in that last photo, Delia looks so much like Fiona in Fiona's own birthday portraits! Maybe it's the similarity in the slightly-tilted pose and garment color. I think that's lovely, actually -- that your girls rock the family resemblance. I don't look much like any of my sisters (except the youngest one, apparently).
And her glasses *are* lovely and perfect for her. Since my parents insisted I get patently unflattering glasses (plastic - cheap, unbreakable, dorky) and I had to survive grade, middle and some of high school in them, I am thankful to you on her behalf :-)

Fortunately, they can kick people in the head. :)
