[livejournal.com profile] hpalternity is so much fun, but OMG I dunno if I can keep up this pace. Short on sleep all week; fighting a wanging headache. Extra coffee and drugs have not made a dent in it so far.

Karate class last night was brutal. Okay, let's start the class with, oh, say 300 horseback riding punches. Then let's do the squats. Then let's do the pushups (I weaseled out of the pushups because sensei knows I'm doing the 100 pushup challenge program, but I substituted bicycle crunches, so it's not like I was getting off easy). Then let's do the slow kicks. Then let's do the karate marching basics, extending the kick in slow motion.

Of course, I hadn't had dinner before class. Soooooo stupid.

I could barely operate the clutch in the car on the way home, my thighs hurt so bad. I was awfully shaky by the end, but I was glad, in a sort of masochistic sort of way. I know I'm going to have to build up my stamina for punishing physical regime to get through when I start the black belt screening. Which will not be for awhile yet, thank god.

I was the only woman in the class, and everyone else was under 25, too, I think. Argh.

I feel your pain!

After a year away from the dojang, I started attending again this week. Owowowowow. Oh my aching muscles.

It was a promise I made to myself, last year. Partly for the exercise, but partly because karate is such a wonderful combination of mental and physical challenges.

I read the first day of [livejournal.com profile] hpalternity but after that, I had to review the weekly sum-up you linked to. I miss NA (and SU) but I just don't have time to immerse myself in a RPG anymore, even as a reader. Pity - it sounds like it's lots of fun, from what you've said. I'm assuming you're playing whom I think you're playing?

Fiona didn't come to your adult class again? Sounds really tough - but I hope you're also proud of yourself for getting through it.

I'm playing the usual part, yeah, but another three parts as well, one of whom is definitely a villain, which is fun and different.

Fiona goes to the adult sparring class with me (which is everyone from red belt up to black belt), but for the standard, i.e., non-sparring classes, we meet at different times.

Trust me, the girls' black belt class last night was even harder than mine. It was Delia's first black belt class, but she found it to be a lot of fun. They were working on pretty complicated combinations. Another one of the senseis worked with Delia alone afterwards (during my class), helping her practice high kick extensions (because she can do those crazy ass kicks so beautifully).

There's a four-year-old girl in my daughters' white-belt class who can kick over her head. I think of Delia when I see her.

I know what you mean about alternity! I'm having a blast, when I'm not wibbling over my posts, but I cannot keep this pace for long. I got 5 hours of sleep last night, and not much more that that any other night.

Though that's not all down to the RPG, a lot of it is.

But it's addictive.
