He's having a pacemaker put in on October 16. We hope this will help ease some of the heart symptoms he's been having in the past year.

Still, my dad's eighty this year. And surgery like this is no stroll in the park.

I wish we lived closer so I could help my mom. They live in Georgia, and none of us are close by. My sisters are both here in Minneapolis, and my brother lives in New York.

I'll keep him in my thoughts.

Take heart

My partner's mom had a new heart valve and then a pacemaker installed at 79 (the tinkering with the heart for the valve screwed up the natural pacer...)

She's going to be 95 real soon now, and aside from having to get a new pacemaker (leads are still good), is the Energizer Bunny.

Prayers and best wishes going his way and for you too.

My grandfather had one put in a few years ago and he is currently 86. He was pretty sick with various things at the time they put it in and it really seemed pretty minor and he did well and recovered pretty quick.

Fingers crossed your dads will go as smoothly.

Hope all goes well. I'm going to the regular "Lunch with the Rev." at my church today, and I'll mention your father in our prayers.

I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. My dad (81) came through his prostate procedure last month without a hitch, but I know that's not at all the same sort of surgery. Do your parents have local friends who could help out? (I don't know what the recovery period tends to be.)

How's Delia feeling, btw?

Delia's pale and a little shakey, but she's back at school.

They do have a lot of friends locally. They really do have a gift with people and are extremely active in their community. When I went down to visit them once, they took me to their church, and at least fifty people stopped them to greet them and have an animated conversation. Mom plays in a local orchestra and Dad's extremely active in Rotary. I think they do have a lot of local support.

Thank you for your card, by the way. Couldn't have been better timed!

Glad it arrived and helped a tiny bit. :) And also good to hear that Delia's on the mend.

On top of everything else. I'm so sorry, sweetheart.
