I'm writing five parts now. Just so you know. And I gotta say, I think the writing in this game is really damn good. If you haven't checked it out yet, please give us a try, and feel free to join the discussion at [livejournal.com profile] alt_fen, the fan discussion group. Once again, if you want to read everything (including [livejournal.com profile] alt_fen), read the [livejournal.com profile] alt_player's friends list here.

If you want to read just the game, without the [livejournal.com profile] alt_fen posts interspersed, read the custom reading group here. Weekly recaps of the story line are here.

(So it's been almost a month since I mentioned it. . . are any of you reading it? What have you thought so far?)

If you're enjoying the game, please spread the word!

I'm reading it and loving it! I wish this term weren't quite so busy (I am TAing as well as taking classes) because I'd have more time for crackpot theories. I have done my best to start one, though, about Michael Corner's necklace.

Please keep up the good work, and pass the sentiment along to everyone else!

I've been reading it with some enthusiasm. I've been meaning to write some comment about it, but life is beyond insanely busy and LJ is going to suffer.

I'll have to check it out--I haven't followed an RPG since my beloved [livejournal.com profile] this_is_now ended.

Well what a perfect one to switch to, as a lot of TWT/TIN players are on Alternity (I myself was in TWT/TIN!)

That's another awesome reason (besides Peg's rec) for me to be reading it!

Can I ask who you played?

I was the original Lily and Hermione.

Cool! Loved both of those characters--the thread where Lily and Narcissa team up to harass Belletrix cracked me up!

It's funny--when I was reading DH, I kept having flashes of TIN. When Michael Corner did something self-sacrificing and personally-endangering, I went "Oh, Mikey!"

And Narcissa's deal at the end was so totally what TIN!Narcissa would have done.

*points at his posts in alt_fen* Heck yes!

Love it, love it, love it!

My one 'negative' comment is that too many of the ickle firsties are too articulate for eleven year-olds. This has been brought into particularly sharp relief by the introduction of Milicent. Now, I don't mind reading it, many of them just seem too mature for 11. And I don't really want them dumbed down now as I feel they've found their own special voice.

We're doing our best, but unfortunately, it's very difficult to 'post down' to 11-year-old status - especially in the heat of commenting!

Trying, though.

I love it. My favorite things have included

    * those threads where the kids talk amongst themselves to try to sort out their understanding of Big Things like Magic and the Treatment of Muggles
    * Sirius's travels and schemes
    * Lupin's uncertain status (and now, his uncertain whereabouts)
    * the hints that things in this AU are Very Different than in JKR's wizardom
    * Alice's character (her passions, her blindnesses, her rashness)
    * Thoroughly Misanthropic Millie (! she's great -- she and Harry strike me as most consistently 11 years old in their writing -- bless Millie, her spelling and commitment to self are priceless)

So, yeah, I'm enjoying the game!

I've been reading and enjoying it, and turned my wife onto it as well. We both enjoyed NA intensely, and the idea of another RPG like NA was too great a temptation. It's how I'm getting through my days right now, saving my reading of it for moments when I'm about to go mad at work.

Also, immensely tempting to watch for the next casting call, because it looks like so much fun to play.

Also, did a rare public post the other day to try to advertise for y'all!

I'm reading it daily. I still find it interesting. I even mentioned it in another blog post -- which was mostly about Steven Brust (!) being part of a new role-playing alternate-reality sort of game thing, which is somewhat different from Alternity, but shares some characteristics.

The most interesting *theoretical* aspect of these new-style fiction models is that they're not "online novels". They have too much information, too parallel and multivoiced, to be read in the same way as a novel (or a movie, or even a season of TV episodes). That makes them inherently participatory. Even Alternity, with a closed cast list, is more participatory than a book because you have to *dig* through it. You have to jump back and forth between threads and think about where your attention is.

I didn't know you were writing multiple parts, though. :)

I really agree with you and am excited by that. I'm thinking of doing some academic work on it (I'm in Media Studies). There are similar things beginning to happen on Twitter, etc.

I'm reading it and enjoying it tremendously.

They need to add Pomfrey to the "notaltfen" filter, though -- she started posting late and slipped through the cracks.
