Did FIRM: Strength today.

I will not be going shopping today. Have the girls with me (Rob is putting some hours in at the store here in Phoenix by special arrangement) and am not interested in buying stuff, only to have to ship it back home. We're cutting back on Christmas this year anyway. Still doing the hanging out with family thing, but want to come up with something for the kids to do today. They have the TV on all the time here, and we just don't do that at all at home (our girls watch no TV).

Am getting a little homesick, I'll admit.

Is the sound of the TV driving you a little nuts? My family always have it on, too, and we don't.

We do watch tv at home, usually a disney movie a day, or one of the animal shows on KDC, but here, my inlaws are allowing him to watch show after show. Sigh. And the house is so small, he has perhaps 7 square feet to play in so it's hard for me to counter them. We'll be home in 5 days; back to normal, then.

Perhaps get/make a Mancala board?

Fantastic game for all ages, many variations and easy to make anywhere, anytime if you need. *grin* All ya need is a bunch of counters and eight 'pockets' and two 'goals'!

I have a lovely (and simple!) hand carved board that folds closed and latches, with glass drops for counters, but you can as easily use beans and paper cups set into the correct 'pattern' for the game.

Do you know how to play Mancala?
