What you need:
pre-made cylinder lamp with modified base and self-adhesive shade

cocktail umbrellas with tips that have been dipped in glow in the dark paint

clear glue

sharp little scissors

spray lacquer

heat retardant spray

wire cutters
What you do:

What a fantastic conversation piece! Looks like a lot of work, but the results are beautiful and creative. My father used to make interesting lamp bases (not shades) by completely covering old glass bottles in randomly torn bits of masking tape, and then tinting the tape with woodstain. The bulb base goes in the neck of the bottle, regular lampshade on top.
