This has been a bad year for this. Not just lawbreaking politicans, but that it's done with such callous indifference to being called to account. Getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar is one thing, but when your hand is in up to your elbow you make me look like an idiot for having voted for you. (Well, in my case it's Eliot Spitzer, but the wound is still fresh after six months....)

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation story has a story on this which includes the following: "Blagojevich spent the morning at his home praying with several ministers before going to work. According to one of the ministers, Blagojevich said he will be vindicated when they "hear each chapter completely written." "

This is the politician whose own attorney-general is going to court to get him removed.

I don't understand American politics at all.
