because I am capable of no more than that. I will try not to drown myself, but it may be touch and go.

What I did to make the world a better place . . . sorta. Well, I began research on figuring out where I could drop off an old cell phone for recycling, maybe charitable donation, but didn't get around to picking which entity/charity/program. I found it all sorta confusing. I think I will try to swing by a Best Buy or something later this week and see if they have a collection for old cell phones.

http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/ -- will allow you to print a free, postage-paid shipping label to mail old phones in

When I last got my phone, the Verizon store I was in had a drop-off location for old phones that were then supposed to be donated to battered women organizations. I don't know if they still do such things (this was several years ago), but if they don't, they may know of some place that does.

The Harriet Tubman Center (AKA Harriet Tubman Family Alliance) accepts cell phones - http://www.tubmanfamilyalliance.org/want_to_help/in_kind/current_needs.html

We accept cell phone donations, which are given to clients as emergency use 911 phones. Please drop off or mail donated phones to our administrative offices.

Oh, yes, someone around here collects old cell phones and programs them to call 911. They give them to battered women and pensioners, IIRC. Surely there's a program in your area that does the same kind of thing.
