See kijjohnson. She's about to move to another city in three and a half weeks, she just had to drop $1,600 on her car (which wiped out their funds for moving), and right after she left town to drive across the country, her husband (left behind in Seattle) almost died of blood poisoning.

Gah. This is one of the times that I really HATE living across the country from my best friend.

You'll be driving distance from each other, especially if you do a meet-in-the-middle. I just wanted to point out that one of our livejournal and real life friends is starstraf, who is living in Lawrence, KS. She'd be happy to give you settling in advice, I've no doubt.

Gad.... what am I to make of this?

I don't know if I am intimidating these days or not. I get mixed reports. But no one else has lit my lambent flame.

I think you might have mistaken me for someone else! I have only been paid for my writing in the last year or so, when Bruce and I have reviewed restaurants for local alternative weeklies. Prior to that, my writing was mailing list blather and apa-hacking, which can be informative and is lots of fun, but isn't a paid gig, and so by some measures isn't "really writing."

Well I put you on our Friends list; read along if you choose. Our journal consists of weiner dog reports and cooking tips, with checkings-in from various airports as a bonus feature.
