Am still absorbing the movie (and it doesn't help that I got about two hours sleep). I'm just too shattered by the experience to put into words what I feel, although I can say that Lord of the Rings, in its entirety (all three movies) is my favorite movie of all time, as Lord of the Rings is my favorite book.

Meanwhile, I have been reading a ton of reviews, and of all the ones I've perused, I like this one best, because it really sums up what the book--and the movie--mean for the individual human heart (warning: spoilers). Will sign on later with more of my own individual reaction, perhaps after I have talked to [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson, who is seeing it today, and I've seen it again Friday night.

I have never walked out of a movie theater feeling so drained and destroyed. What an amazing experience. It was just so beautiful.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it as well.

I'm looking forward to RotK now (it's airing on Boxing Day in Australia.)

And I'm looking forward to the eventual day when I can watch all three extended editions in a marathon.

Most of all, though, I'm looking forward to the day when I can do the same with Wagner's Ring cycle on DVD. CDs are wonderful, but they do take more concentration, without the visuals to help hold your attention.
