I've stuck with Wizard of the Pigeons and am now more than 1/2 through. I think I will pick up Lois McMaster Bujold's manuscript to critique next (this is the sequel to Paladin of Souls). She's about 12 chapters in so far.

By the way, last Friday I went to see Return of the Kings (again) with her, and [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson, who was in town for a flying visit. It was fun to see it with others who are as obsessed as me. My husband can tease me for having seen it five times--but Lois has already seen it ten times. She shrugged good-naturedly and said "I've got more time than you do. But I really do have to get back to my book."

Yes please -- all of you should get back to your books and wait for the extended release DVD ;-)

I bought WotP in a limited special-run edition, and it made me realize that no matter how much I *should* like a book, I don't always actually enjoy it. I need to reread it, but my feeling on finishing it the first time was "meh," which was 180 degrees about what I had expected.

By the way, I really loved Emerald House Rising, especially since it didn't fall into the trap of a lot of fantasy cliches. I've recommended it to a lot of people, but I refuse to loan out my copy!

Thank you for your kind words on Emerald House Rising! And you're probably wise to hang on to your copy, since it's about impossible to obtain anymore.

I've always liked Wizard of the Pigeons, but part of that might be because I grew up in Seattle. ;)
