Wow. It would absolutely terrify me to be standing out on a long plank of ice in the middle of a freezing lake, slicing blocks off of it with a chainsaw, like in one of the pictures in that first article. But it's looking like a really neat structure they're building. I hope you'll post links to pics when it's done.

*gleeful hopping* It looks *just* like Almonzo and his family cutting ice in Farmer Boy. Well, except modern equipment instead of 19th century saws and stuff, but *really* it looks *just* like the descriptions! The photo of the guy poling the ice down the narrow strip of open water that they've cut is *exactly* like the book!
