[livejournal.com profile] elisem asked people if they have a morning routine. Here's mine:

Weekdays: some days I get up at 5:10 a.m., other days at 6:30 a.m. Depends on whether I do a workout or not, which, in turn, depends on how late I was up the night before. Most days it's 5:10 a.m., and I turn it off immediately so Rob can sleep, check e-mail quickly, and get into workout clothes. (I workout about 4-6 days a week, including weekend days). I workout for from half an hour to an hour. If it's just a half hour, I go back to bed and sleep the sleep of the virtuous until 6:30.

When the alarm goes off again at 6:30, I get up, check e-mail again and Livejournal. Whether or not I shower depends on whether I did a workout or not; I wash my hair every other day or so. Put on makeup, get dressed, and come downstairs by 7:00 a.m., right around the time the girls are leaving for the school bus (Rob's the one who makes sure they get ready and makes their lunch). I eat the same breakfast just about every single day of my life; Shredded Wheat with a couple tablespoons of Grapenuts, and a couple tablespoonfuls of granola, with bananas and blueberries and soy milk, and I eat it as I read the Minneapolis Star & Tribune, generally just the front and Variety sections. Then I make a coffee mocha with my Krups coffeemaker (you wouldn't believe how much money I save by making them myself rather than buying them downtown). I grab my purse, make sure I have my gymbag with my music CDs, my frozen lunch, and a book or two, and I generally leave for work at about 7:45 or so.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose husband gets the kiddo ready in the morning. :)

In our house, husband gets kiddo's breakfast ready (on weekdays, anyway - not always on the weekend), but I get her up/changed/dressed. Who feeds her depends on how early or late husband is running. Usually ends up split.
