Rain, inside and out
Oct. 6th, 2009 01:53 pmIt has been raining for several days.
We need the rain. The trees have been stressed from drought this summer, and it'll put the plants in good shape to weather the winter. The gloom is hard to bear, though. It has meant putting off my walk on the bridge several times.
The gloom inside is hard to bear, too. My Decrease Worldsuck reports have tapered off; I've been struggling more with Up Close and Personal Lifesuck. Yet, I'm doing my best. Have consulted with People With Whom It Is A Good Idea to Consult and Got Things Which We Hope Will Be Efficiacious. I got the books
sartorias sent, and plan to start them, too. Trying to pull my mind from the Slough of Despond. Writing down gratitudes.
Fiona is competing in a karate tournament this weekend. I've been asked to judge, to defray her entrance fee. My feeling about this is rapidly escalating dread. It is way outside my comfort zone. Oh, Fiona, the things your mother does for you.
My parents are up from Georgia and here in town, with the first truckload of their possessions--they are moving into a local condo. It will take a few more trips, but I am truly thrilled that they are moving from thousands of miles away to a place that's only about fifteen miles away. W00t! I know they'll miss the Georgia climate, but I hope being near their grandchildren will help make up for it.
