Yay! The NRA has a blacklist, by the way, and it too has backfired: anti-NRA types are intentionally adding themselves to the list in an effort to dilute its intended effect (screw businesses and politicians) and show most Americans think the NRA are freaks.

thanks for the link! I remember finding the poll linked to in someone else's lj a few months ago and voting, and I'm so glad to hear what came of it. satisfying.

Yes, I expected it to go this way. My husband was just showing me that page this evening, while perusing the stuff he gets for our IWG work (www.iwgonline.org). Which just goes to show you what liars these people are. They were going on and on about how they were going to send the results of this poll to Congress. Not so interested in showing it to Congress now, are they? I wish they WOULD show it to the cowards in DC who are too afraid to do the right thing and stand up for equal marriage rights for all people. But that will never happen because they're so dishonest and will do anything to achieve their ends. Oh well. A small victory of sorts. Now if only ALL of the people running for president against the Shrub would stand up for equal marriage rights. The Canadians are making us look bad. ;)

I think that if they thought that the poll was going to be valid evidence if it said what they wanted it to say and the people that they wanted to vote in it voted, that they should send it to congress now that the public has spoken.

Keeping score

Such polls are silly, but the sponsors should have kept their commitment.

When Anderson posted it to his blog on Dec. 18, 2003, the anti-gay-marriage position was leading, with 51.45 percent of respondents opposing gay marriage or civil unions.

...but BARELY leading, even among the supposedly faithful! That is more heartening than the final results I think.
