Name two foods which you have discovered go together, even though it wouldn't occur to anyone to combine them.

I have two:

cottage cheese and canned pumpkin. Throw in some almonds and cinnamon, and you have a delicious healthy snack.

The other one is even weirder: vanilla ice cream and a very good quality balsamic vinegar. No, really! A friend turned me on to this one, and I never would have believed it, but they really do taste good together.

Banana and Pringles. Other chips/crackers can do in a pinch, but, really, a broken piece of Pringle atop a bite of banana - yum. My father got me into that. My father is also to blame for my loving Rice Krispies on top of ice cream. Any ice cream will do, but it's especially nice on vanilla-fudge swirl.

Well, I like pineapple and roasted red pepper on pizza. That's odd, sort of.

And french fries and milkshakes. That's REALLY good.

My dad eats peanut butter, cheese, mayo, and bologna sandwiches. I have been known to enjoy a bite or two but a whole sandwich's worth makes me kind of sick to my stomach.

Also, I have to admit I hated it, but I had it: Chocolate that had strawberry and pepper flavoring. (We bought it at World Market, if you have those. If not, it's like a Pier One with food.)

It was gross, but I'm sure someone would like it.

I like cottage cheese and applesauce mixed together, with some cinnamin on top. yum!

I adore cottage cheese mixed with anything sweet: applesauce, chocolate sauce, honey, maple syrup, or just plain sugar. And peanut butter and chocolate sauce on toast is fabulous!

Hmmm.
My first thought was chocolate milkshakes and french fries.
What else... well, I'm a huge fan of dipping sauces. Anything and everything can be dipped. Like any or all of the sauces one gets at a Japanese steakhouse, especially if they have teriyaki or a nice ginger salad dressing... People look at me funny. :>

Husband likes to eat tortilla chips with cottage cheese. No salsa, nothing like that... just plain co-cheese.

And I think strawberries and balsamic vinegar are excellent. V. good on salad.

I keep seeing recipes that call for strawberries and balsamic vinegar, but strawberries that you see in the supermarket are hardly worth eating, and fresh, small, intensely flavored strawberries that I get from the local community-supported agriculture project are so few and so good that I am leery of putting much of anything with a strong flavor (or without flavor, for that matter) on them; I am so in love with strawberry shortcake that I can't imagine doing anything else with them. Is it really worth it?

There's a little restaurant on Main Street in Madison, NJ called The Garlic Rose Cafe. Everything in the restaurant has garlic in it. It is not the place for the shy of stomach or sensitive of breath to go. Here I first had garlic ice cream - homemade vanilla ice cream with minced roasted garlic bits in it. Creamy and oh so delicious, even though everyone else at the table didn't believe me. Heck, I didn't believe me when I ordered it.

In Denmark a lot of people eat cheese and jam together on toast (I don't know if it's common in any other countries as well?), well I took that a step further. We have a special kind of chocolate to put on toast - not Nutella as it's more like a piece of chocolate than a spread - which comes as both dark and milk chocolate. That dark chocolate and cheese on toast - very nice!

And when I was younger, my father wouldn't just make fairy bread . . . he'd make fairy and goblin bread. Which was 100s and 1000s, with sultanas sprinkled over the bread too. But I never liked that.

My grandfather loves making sandwiches with peanut butter and dill pickle slices. It's quite good, actually.

I love cream cheese on pretzels. Yummmmmmm. And there's an interesting dessert with ricotta cheese and mocha powder with chocolate chips. Generally, cheese and sweet go well together.

And this surely must be common knowledge by now, but there's almost nothing better than pizza dipped in ranch dressing. Just in case you were afraid the pizza by itself wasn't bad enough for you on its own.

Then again, almost anything is better dipped in ranch dressing.

One that I have heard of, but have never actually tried is wasabi and chocolate. The sharpness of the wasabi is supposed to accentuate the sweetness of the chocolate.

Me? I am a sucker for ketchup. Especially in macaroni and cheese. Also, with margarine on bread and hotdogs. Mustard on buttermilk toast is another one of my favorites.

I quite like two-minute noodles and vegemite, but I'm not sure if anyone else would.

With the icecream and balsamic vinegar, try adding some strawberries. They'd go great with both.

Saltines and lemonade have a flavor together that is magical and unlike each separately.

I'm told it's weird to put orange juice on cereal instead of milk, though I find it to be common sense.
