I did two workouts today, a step one at 5:15 a.m. and FIRM Standing Legs after work, just because. I walked 6905 steps today, not quite enough, but not too shabby, actually. I have started re-reading Mansfield Park. I made a delicious and virtuous dinner for myself, shrimp and grapefruit. (My family, unimpressed, ate cheese pizza instead).

Well, despite all this virtue, I still didn't write. Sorry.

Virtue is its own reward.

How as the shrimp and grapefruit prepared? Grapefruit-y sauce for the shrimp, perhaps? That would be tasty.

I just eyeballed the ingredients, so I'm not giving you measurements. In a wok or nonstick frying pan, heat vegetable oil until hot, swirling to coat pan. Add shrimp and stir-fry until shrimp are pink and curled, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove to serving plate. In same wok, add scallions and garlic, stir fry until softened, 1 to 2 minutes. Add grapefruit juice and dry white wine, salt and pepper. Heat to boiling and cook 2 minutes. Reduce heat to medium low. Add about a tablespoon soy sauce and, if you like, a little butter. Cook, stirring, until buter is melted and sauce is smooth (about 1 minute). Add grapefruit sections and pour sauce over shrimp. Serve immediately. Easy and delicious.

I wonder if the wine would change the flavor enough that I'd get past my aversion to grapefruit. (I'm one of those people for whom grapefruit has a fairly unfortunate taste if I think about it too much.) I bet it would translate to other citrus well though; lime would be good, I bet.

Feel free to make me dinner anytime, the heck with your family!
