I am a relatively rare bird.

I keep trying to convince my family members to start livejournals. They read and enjoy mine, but so far have refused.

By the way, several have askd to see pictures of the new haircut. I do not have the technical wherewithall to post a picture (although [livejournal.com profile] daedala, if I e-mail you one, can you post it on the website and send me the link?), but Rob fixed the webcam that I use on Yahoo last night, and I'll set it to view the next several days. Look for my Yahoo name, bluesox4113, and request to view if I'm on line.

Cheers,
Peg

Well, I think one reason why relatively few people showed up in the poll as having LJs or blogs is because they did the survey BY PHONE. Now, a lot more people have DSL or cable modems these days, but I still know a ton of people who use their phone line to get on the web, and unlike us, they don't have a separate line dedicated for just that, so when they're online you can't phone them unless they have a cell phone and you know the number. Upshot: the people who were already online blogging away weren't reached by the pollsters. I don't think the numbers in the poll are likely to be accurate. Random telephone polls rarely are because they're self-selecting. They're basically a bunch of people who actually have the time to talk to telephone pollsters and whose phone isn't already monopolized by a modem, so that leaves out a lot of the population.
