isn't anyone trying to get a movie made of the Miles Vorkosigan books starring Peter Dinklage? Well, all right, he's a little too old, but he's almost exactly the right height (he's 4' 5" whereas Miles is 4' 6"). And handsome, and with charisma to burn. And a fine actor.

Of course, he probably wouldn't be interested if anyone sent him the script that was written when Lois originally optioned out the film rights. It was so screamingly terrible that we used to read it aloud in a circle, each person passing it around to the next as soon as he/she burst into gaffaws of horrified laughter (Lois called it her "Springtime for Hitler" script).

But if someone would write a good script . . . wouldn't it be cool.

I should talk with Lois about it.

Wow. I haven't seen him in anything, but he certainly looks the part.

I do wish writers had more input in casting, scripts etc. (Well, I suppose I mean 'all writers everywhere except Joanne Rowling'.)

My boss went to school with Lois and had me read the Miles series. I adored it.

HAHAHAAHAH! Springtime for Hitler!! That's so sad!

Let's hope someone writes a better script. The story is just too good!

Personally, I've always seen Walter Koenig (Bester from Babylon 5) as the perfect Miles. Every time he walked onto the screen, that was my first thought. He's short, somewhat deformed-looking but still attractive, and he definitely has the charisma. I could see him playing the part very well. He also has the added bonus of having a following in the sci-fi community.

I hate to say it, and I'm not trying to minimize his talents in any way, but I definitely think Koenig's too old for the part... And honestly, is he better known as Bester or as Chekov from Star Trek?

(I would have said he's also too tall, but considering what they were able to do for Lord of the Rings, that's not quite as much of an issue anymore.)

I'm not sure how old he's looking these days, but they do mention in the books that Miles looks a lot older than he is. And it was really the "Bester" character that made me think of Miles.

I would LOVE to see a movie of any of the Vorkosigan books. But Walter Koenig, much as I like him as an actor, is not only too tall, but too old at this point to play Miles, IMHO.

I suspect that Koenig is tall enough, and almost old enough, to play Aral.

just stumbled across this journal and saw this post. My family is a huge fan of those books (my dad gave them to my sister and I stole them from her). Always wanted a movie based on them. It would be an incredible movie. So, yeah, sorry for being random but just wanted to support a movie on those books and say that the author just amazes me--she seems so intelligent and so talented.

Lois is a very good friend of mine, and we critique each other's manuscripts. Yes, I agree that she's a wonderful writer, and she's a very nice person to boot.
