Delia: "Oh, no. Why did you have to do that?"

Fiona: "No offense, but the other cut looked so much better."

Rob: "Well, I understand why you did it, so I'm not going to bitch about it."

Gosh. Overwhelmed with praise and support, are you?

Now, correct me...is your hair two inches shorter than it was before or two inches SHORT? Because super-short would look so cute on you.

Just think of all the cute intermediate styles you'll be able to try while it's growing back.

Well, the heck with your family. When I saw you at Minicon, I thought your hair was quite cute.

Short hair is fierce and sexy. I suspect that the girls are not used to seeing you wearing that sort of vibe on your head.

I say *rowr*.

Ah yes. Part of the reason I am always afraid to cut my hair is I know my best friend is rarely supportive of short hair. Plus my father hates short hair. Hard to have people around who don't appreciate a new adventure in hair style, isn't it?

My new response to this is "When you've grown your hair longer than mine is now, we'll discuss it." I have a friend who thinks that I should always have long, long hair and glasses, as I did at age 16 when we were dating.

A small part of the reason I leave my hair long is so that people can't tell me I don't know how much work it is if I tell them I like their hair better long :-).

Not that this has anything to do with Peg's case; and besides I haven't seen her with short hair, so I have no idea what I think about it.

my hair has been that length for most of my life, and my first thought is that it will be very Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies.

Reminds me of my ex's response when I chopped my hair off (it went down to my waist and I had it cut about 2 inches long and bleached platinum on top of it). He looked up at me when I came into the house and whimpered.

My boss constantly tells me, "I like your long hair better." Like today, again. It drives me nuts.

Pay no attention to the family behind the curtain. I think you'll look fabulous! I went short short as well after I got exasperated by the perm from hell. I'll try to find a pic of mine. I want to grow it a bit longer. I tell you try some highlights, it looks great in shorter hair particularly. You look like you've been out in the sun and it covers all the grey :) Can't wait to see a pic. Oh and another advantage is that it won't fall in your face while doing a downward facing dog, even if your clip doesn't hold ;)

Fortunately, you cut it for yourself, and not for your family.

P.S. Fabulous necklace.

When I was about eight years old, my mother cut her waist-length hair to her shoulders. I supportively greeted her with the tearful declaration, "You don't look like a MOTHER anymore!" I did learn tact at some point before adulthood (well, some tact, at least).

Same thing happened in my family when my Mom did the same thing. Kids imprint on the way Mommy looks and don't like that to change. Fortunately, kids are not baby ducklings and adjust their imprinting very quickly to the new look.

1) What is important is that YOU like it

2) Nothing wrong with a radical change now and then

3) Hair always grows back, couldn't stop it if you wanted to

When my mother, who had very long here, cut most of it off and got a perm when I was seven, my first reaction was, out loud, "Mommy! You look like a poodle!"

I'm sure that, like my mom, you look just fine. And think of how much money you're going to save on shampoo!

Post a picture! I really like Kij's hair short, it just takes some getting used to when you make a change like that. I'm sure you look great.
