Virginia has just passed the "Marriage Affirmation Act" and judging from
penknife's description, it's absolutely horrifying. This is just. Plain. Wrong.

Date: 2004-04-30 05:01 am (UTC)Oh, and the wonderful state government that I now work for is pushing for legislation that medical professionals should be able to refuse to care for someone on moral grounds. Prohibited in the bill is discrimination of a patient by age, gender, race or religion. But not sexual orientation. So a doctor could refuse to treat a gay or lesbian person on moral grounds. Nice.
