Dumpster report
May. 23rd, 2004 10:32 amThe dumpster arrived noon on Friday. It is enormous. Now it is about 1/4 to 1/3 filled. I logged almost 18,000 steps on my pedometer from going up and down the basement stairs.
Kij arrived at about 5:00 yesterday. We worked some on the kitchen cupboards last night, and will be going to the Organized Living store today. I'm glad she's here. I'm finding this quite stressful, as Rob and I have strenuous differences about what's appropriate to keep and what's appropriate to throw away.

A couple of things I've picked up from the TLC program "Clean Sweep" that may be of use: If one of you claims that something is important but it is in a box, covered in dust, in disrepair, etc., make a deal to keep it if it gets a place of importance in the house and is kept nice (even if that is special storage). For large collections of things (shoes, bags, books, whatever) challenge each other to make a one-for-one or two-for-one sort of which to keep and which to let go.
Good that you've got support for this as well. Hang in there!
