52 Card Project 2021: Week 23: Heatwave
Jun. 11th, 2021 12:55 pmAccording to our local paper, the Star Tribune, the Twin Cities is experiencing the third-longest streak of temperatures at 90 degrees or higher in history.
Ordinarily, I can tolerate the heat pretty well—certainly better than Rob ever could. But that’s if the really extreme heat lasts 3-4 days, as it usually does. We’re going on day eight, and I’m finding it to be increasingly difficult. As the days drag on, I’m feeling both increasingly stupid and cranky. My house has no central air. I have been home, because I'm working from home except one day a week. I've been coping with showers, fans, and a portable air conditioner that I borrowed from Fiona. It isn't very effective--at the most, it has lowered the temperature in my bedroom to 85. But that's better than 100 degrees.
Urgh. And now the power is out. Fortunately, my internet runs on fiberoptic.
