I made fresh papaya/mango ice cream with the new ice cream maker. (Ok, it wasn't really a cheat because I hardly had to add any sugar at all; the fruit was so sweet).

Both girls tried only one mouthful and refused the rest.

Rob ate a small bowlful and said it was "edible" but it wouldn't have been his first choice.

I swear, there are times I really do believe that my family does not deserve me.

Tomorrow's July 1. Chocolate tomorrow. You better believe it.

Edited to correct: That was papaya/mango, not pomegranate/mango. Yeesh.

Wow. I think I would've nominated my mother for beatification if she had ever made something so decadent and yummy-sounding.

If your kids and Rob don't want any, rest assured that there are those of us who will take their share. :)

Peg, you can come live with me. I made potato leek curry and I am going to have to eat it all all by myself.

The hardship.

Misia, you come too. Bring the Belovedary. There's lots.

You have, at least, the comfort of knowing that there'll be more of all those yummy things for yourself!

(And when your girls are 30, they'll come looking for all those recipes, refusing to believe that they could have turned their noses up at such things when they were younger.)

First: congratulations on your sugar-free month! YAY!

Second: that ice cream sounds DIVINE. Mr. PH agrees. We are both now plotting to get an ice cream maker.

That sounds great - where'd you get the recipe? I feel an urge to use my ice cream maker. :)

Does your family like bananas? I recently made a wonderful and very easy banana ice cream from a Food Network recipe.

I bought an homemade ice cream recipe book, but after paging through it, I think I have enough of an idea of the process that I'm probably going to be doing some experimenting, without recipes.

In my experience, kids and men generally are less fond of "different" flavors of ice cream than are women.

Last night I tried a new recipe, which included a mango salsa for the marinated and grilled chicken. Everyone ate it and liked it. [Sound of me fainting from shock.]

Alas, in this, I would have to agreee with Rob and the girls. Mango and papaya are not my friends. I taste something unpleasant in them that most people don't.
