Try this as you are reading the directions. I did it, and trust me: it's annoying...

1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor
and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your
right hand.

Your foot will change direction and there's nothing you can do about
it.

This WILL drive you crazy.

..are the reason that a whole office has now ground to a halt while its occupants wave their feet in circles while they sketch number "6" in the air.

You can overcome it with time and practice. Much like learning to pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time.

Yes - one of my fencing instructors once made us learn to do it to improve our motor control/precision. I had it down by the next week - it doesn't really take time so much as a refusal to get bored.

...but it didn't. A talent I knew not of.

Hmm... I didn't have any problems wtih the. My right leg twitched, but it didn't change directions. Lemme try it again.

Nope, worked just fine. I wonder if learning sign language maybe re-wired my brain...

My leg reversed the first time, got confused the second time, abd I was able to do it by the third time (although not reliably. More practice...

What am I thinking! Like my to-do list isn't long enough already...

I can just see it: to do:

Prep Project class
Wash dishes
Return Library books
Learn to circle feet and hands in opposite directions
do taxes....

(sigh)

Peg, I say this as a friend: you might need to get out more. (Yeah, I couldn't break the pattern either.)

Hi =) Found you through a link and just thought you should know that my entire family is trying this right now and failing!!! =D

Someone said that this is just like the rub tummy pat head thing -- well then I'm doomed because that took me 17 years to master!

*is determined to get this*
