I looked out the back door this week and saw a rainbow against the sky. It made me think of hope.

I spent last week hanging out with mom and my siblings at her transitional care unit. Mom is making progress. The physical and occupational therapists have been impressed by the speed of her recovery, probably due to all that she did to keep herself strong and healthy before her accident. She quintupled her steps within a week of her accident.

We are in the process of planning her move to an Assisted Living apartment in the complex where she has been living, which will probably take place toward the end of the month.

I’m glad that she’s recovering. If my mother had been destined to make it to at least ninety-six, she would still be with us, but it may be for the best that she died when she did, because she had shy of Alzheimer’s, and at least she passed away before her mind went, and left her just a shell.
