Goodbye to the Planetarium

The girls and I went today to one of the last shows of the Minneapolis Planetarium, which is about to be razed when the library building that houses it is torn down. The state legislature had money for a new planetarium in the new library budget, but that line item was cut my our we-don't-need-no-stinking-education governor Jesse Ventura. (Well, to be fair, I suppose his reasoning was we-don't-need-to-pay-no-stinking-taxes. But I'm mad at him either way.)
I've never thought the Minneapolis Planetarium was as good as the planetarium I grew up with, the Chicago Planetarium, but I'm still definitely sad to see the Minneapolis Planetarium close. It's the only one the girls have ever seen. Now they'll have to wait another four years to see a sky show, and that's only if the funding is restored (a rather big "if" in this time of budget constraints).
