I am thinking about Elinor Dashwood tonight.

Imagine if Elinor Dashwood had a LiveJournal. She is thinking about Edward, and how much she loves him, but she can't say anything about that because Edward is engaged to someone else, and so she can't rightfully pay any attention to him. And besides, the engagement is secret, and she promised she wouldn't tell, and so she can't moan about how he led her on. And her sister is acting like a twit over Willoughby, but it would be best if that weren't mentioned, and so she can't talk about that. And she pities Colonel Brandon, but she respects his desire to keep his feelings private, so she can't natter on and on about him. And Mrs. Jennings is truly tiresome, but after all the dear lady has been so kind to them all, and so she can't complain about her neighbor's nosy, gossipy nature in public--it just wouldn't be polite.

So what would Elinor Dashwood write about in her LiveJournal?

"Woke up rather early today. Mended the rip under the arm of my blue dress, and let out the hem on Margaret's church dress--the dear girl is growing quite fast now. Saw Mrs. Jennings and Sir John at tea. Marianne played for us all afterward, a very lovely piece which she has been practicing most diligently."

I am sure that Marianne's entries would be vastly more entertaining, as well as exquisitely embarrassing.

For a variety of reasons which I am not at liberty to discuss at present, my LiveJournal entries must be rather more like Elinor's than Marianne's. If they strike the reader as a tad boring for awhile, I am sorry, but for the immediate future I will freely admit that I am concentrating rather more on what I am leaving out than what I am putting in.
