Fiona's temp reached 103 during the night. I kept both girls home and will make a call shortly to try to get them into the clinic.

[livejournal.com profile] elisem and [livejournal.com profile] roadnotes pointed me to [livejournal.com profile] baldanders, who said it in his two posts about grief over the Columbia (your perspective can . . . and addendum), and I'd like to point people to them, too.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] praetorianguard for this one:

I'm an apparently intelligent, liberal, disgustingly generous, relatively well adjusted human being!
What are you?

I'm terza rima, and I talk and smile.
Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away
I let mine out, and chatter all the while.

I'm rarely on my own - a wasted day
Is any day that's spent without a friend,
With nothing much to do or hear or say.

I like to be with people, and depend
On company for being entertained;
Which seems a good solution, in the end.
What Poetry Form Are You?

(It also noted "If you were not Terza Rima you would be a Sonnet):

I am the sonnet, never quickly thrilled;
Not prone to overstated gushing praise
Nor yet to seething rants and anger, filled
With overstretched opinions to rephrase;
But on the other hand, not fond of fools,
And thus, not fond of people, on the whole;
And holding to the sound and useful rules,
Not those that seek unjustified control.
I'm balanced, measured, sensible (at least,
I think I am, and usually I'm right);
And when more ostentatious types have ceased,
I'm still around, and doing, still, all right.
In short, I'm calm and rational and stable -
Or, well, I am, as much as I am able.

*Ahem* This is the third day I've been trapped in a house with two sick kids and no hot water.

Am seriously going insane.

Still no hot water. Rob says he has to go back to the store again to exchange the parts he's purchased (for the fifth time).

Took both the girls to the doctor's today. The result of the visit was . . . inconclusive. Not a bacterial infection, so no antibiotics, of course. Could be mono. The doctor told me that he could test for it, but even if we knew it was mono, it wouldn't do much good, because they can't do anything for it anyway. Decided to skip the blood test. Fiona's temperature was 102 tonight, so guess she's not going to school tomorrow. Again.

Meep.
