Media Interviews
Apr. 28th, 2004 10:12 amI'm going to be participating in a roundtable hosted by City Pages tonight. As I understand it, this is a get together of several local writers, to answer questions for reporter Terri Sutton. I think the writers invited to participate are all woman, and it's partly meant to tie in to Wiscon, the feminist SF convention held in Madison, Wisconsin on each Memorial Day Weekend which this year, alas, I will not be attending (I'm particularly sad about this, since one of my good friends and mentors Eleanor Arnason is going to be the guest of honor). Eleanor suggested my participation to Terri. I have a touch of nervousness about it, which is to be expected, I suppose, as this is one of my first experiences at being interviewed by a media outlet. However, I expect all will go well. I have lots of experience at discussing SF and fantasy on convention panels, and Eleanor will be participating, and I expect I will know the other authors as well. Maybe they'll get Lois McMaster Bujold, too, or Lyda Morehouse. And Terri Sutton has a keen interest and good understanding of SF and Fantasy. She has participated on the FEM-SF listserv, and she's previously done very good write ups of Eleanor here and Lois here. See also a good write up on young adult fantasy fiction here. So I think should be fun.
I've also been asked for an interview by a local cable station. I had turned down the first request when I received it a couple of months ago. I was caught up in midwinter madness, and also, perversely, I felt like I would be a bit of a fraud if I were interviewed, because I wasn't writing. But as part of my renewed campaign to start the book again, and to think of myself again as a writer, I have said yes to the second request. That should take place in the next couple of weeks.
