Better news
Aug. 26th, 2004 11:13 amI am back at work and Delia is back at daycare (which she was very glad about, as she didn't want to miss the end of the summer cookout). The doctor we saw today thought that, based on the blood tests taken at the time, at least the second episode of fever (when we went to the ER) seemed to be viral, although reoccurrence of high fever three times in two and a half weeks seemed unusual for them all to be separate viral infections. So she had a tentative speculation that it could be something nefarious lurking in her tonsils, although since Delia seems to be on the mend now, and her throat looks okay, she didn't do any further testing today. If the fever reoccurs, we're to bring her in immediately for testing. A second, more distant possibility is one of the tick-borne illnesses, either Lyme or Ehrlichiosis (she'd tested negative for both of them, but false negatives are common at the beginning of the infection).
For now, we're keeping our fingers crossed that she'll stay healthy.
Phew.
