I spent a good number of hours planting tulip and crocus bulbs. I have only about forty bulbs to go; I made good progress using the auger on the power drill that [livejournal.com profile] lsanderson lent me, but I had to stop to recharge the drill and by the time it was charged up enough again, the daylight was gone.

Ow. My back hurts. I will be retiring to the bathtub soon. I certainly hope it will all be worth it in the spring.

Damn. I forgot that next weekend was to be the Rivendell discussion group meeting on Seamus Heaney's translation of Beowulf, and I haven't yet picked a copy up or started reading it. I kinda wanted to go to that. Is it possible to knock the book off in a week, do you think?

Declare by Tim Powers. First time read.

The Unknown Ajax by Georgette Heyer. Re-read

The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler.

Fire & Ice: The History of the St. Paul Winter Carnival by Moira Harris. I'm putting this down because although I didn't read the entire book, I did skim the parts I didn't read.

Am presently reading both Heyer's Venetia and Icy Pleasures: Minnesota Celebrates Winter by Paul Clifford Larson.
