Tempted by portable greenhouses

I'm tempted to get this portable greenhouse.


Figure it would be useful for all the flats I'm starting, hardening off, etc. Or would I really use it enough to justify the expense? $57 or so with shipping. Any of you gardeners use anything like it? Or should I stick to something smaller, like this? Any idea where to look for something like this locally, Twin Citians, so I don't have to pay icky internet shipping charges?

That was a big oops on somebody's part

As davidschroth pointed out, DreamHaven sent out a bunch of postcards saying my reading was on April 26. This was a mistake; someone got the date wrong when the post cards were ordered. The reading is, as I said, on March 22, as confirmed on the DreamHaven website. Hope to see at least some of you there. If you're planning on coming, please don't hesitate to come up and introduce yourself.

Wish I had a cat

I adore cats. I am however, dreadfully allergic to them, which seems awfully unfair. When I was growing up, we had cats, and I got an allergy shot once a week. Somehow, I'm not willing to do that anymore. So: no cat.

Usually, I just accept this as an unhappy but given fact of life, but tonight, especially after reading wicked_wish's entry here and elisem's entry here, and remembering various amusing things scott_lynch has said about his cat, like this or this, I really wish tonight that I had a cat. Something alive to snuggle with me and head bash me and sit on my lap and purr. Or do ridiculous things around the house that will make me laugh.
