Oh, my thighs are burning. I rode the bike all the way home last night for the first time since surgery and all the way to work today on top of having the karate lesson. I was glad I had done so much stretching during my vacation, working on my hamstrings twice a day, and that I had stretched carefully before the class started. It helped a lot--I certainly wasn't the most inflexible person there.

When I got out of class, our senior sensei Mr. Sidner asked me how I'd done. "Oh, I absolutely sucked!" I said with manic cheerfulness, and he cracked up. And it was true. Mr. Dingmann (who led the class) very kindly didn't direct many comments my way during this first lesson but it was absolutely clear that after all, I haven't had a lesson in a year and a half. My form on my kicks was terrible, especially the hook kick, and my balance was extremely shaky. And I was slowest in the class on the hook kick/round kick combination. "But I knew I would suck," I told Mr. Sidner blithely. "I'd planned on it. So I went out there and flaunted my massive suckitude for all it was worth. I totally went for it."

"That's the right attitude," he smiled.

Yes, I have an awful lot of work to do. But I am happy to do it because I am SO glad to be back.

I liked it, with reservations. Spoilers beneath the cut )

So that's my initial reaction. I liked it, although I know it is a difficult book and movie to like. I saw where they rushed things and although I approve of the tight focus on Harry and I understood the decisions that were made, I mourn where they left things out.

And I really want to see it again. I just wish I had the money to see it in 3-D everytime. See it at the IMAX if you can.
