Dammit

Delia just threw up that 1/2 cupful of chicken soup she had. It may be a long night.

Delia just awoke me, racked by nightmares. Took her temperature and it is AGAIN 105.7. I talked with the hospital and they don't need her to come back unless she doesn't respond to Tylenol. We're out of it (and it's the drug of first choice for fevers this high), so Rob is about to get into the car and go out and get more Tylenol. Fortunately, we have a 24 hour pharmacy nearby. The nurse will check back with us at 7:30 a.m. or so.

99.6 F. I hope we've turned the corner.

Today

I got to work, sat down at my desk--and burst into tears. I was just so exhausted after the day/night we'd had, and, I belatedly realized, still a little overwrought by the scare Delia's condition gave us. So, I sent an apologetic email to my attorneys, went home, and went to bed. Up again and groggy after a few hours sleep. It'll be a quiet afternoon at home.

Delia is totally fed up with her traitorous body. As are we all.

She's better today--if you can call a fever bouncing around between 102 and 103 F "better." We're disappointed--we'd hoped the penicillin would have kicked in more quickly. She's eaten barely a couple of mouthfuls of food in the past 48 hours. We are trying to coax liquids into her, offering her an array of popsicles, flat ginger ale, charged water, etc. She can't manage very much.

She is really, really sick of being sick. She (and I) will be home again tomorrow.
